Pole Manufacturing Department
At Swift Lumber, our pole manufacturing department is a very important part of our company. Our pole mill produces a number of different size poles, piling and posts in various classes and lengths.
At the pole mill, bark poles are preclassed and either sent through the system as poles and piling or as a post. After they have been preclassed, they are peeled and then classed again before being sent to the dry-kilns. After exiting the dry kilns, the poles are sent to the framing yard to be checked again for quality and to ensure they meet a particular customer’s specifications.
After final inspection, it is officially classed as a pole. The pole is then cut to the exact length, branded, drilled and sent to the treating plant for treatment.
