Forest Management Goals
Timber cannot be classified as a renewable resource because it can not be replenished by a natural process at a rate comprable to or faster than the speed with which it is used. For this reason, reforestation is of the utmost importance to the wood product industry. If the landowner or timber company responsible for cutting the timber does not diligently replant its harvest area, we run the risk of using up this valuable natural resource.
At Swift Lumber, we have been harvesting timber on the same tracts of land for nearly eighty years. We often select thin our stands rather than clearcut, thus allowing the tract to naturally regenerate on its own. When we do elect to clearcut a stand we always plant far more trees than were cut.
We believe that environmental stewardship is everyone's responsibility and thus try to conduct our daily operations in an ecologically mindful manner.

Timber Procurement
Please contact our office if you have standing timber you wish to have cut. At Swift Lumber, we have an experienced and qualified procurement team capable of assisting you in the timber selling process. Our foresters will come and assess your timber in order to see if it meets our needs. If you timber is suitable for our purposes, our foresters will cruise your timber for free and make a fair market offer to you based upon their findings.
